1. Pillar 3: Bowing (Ruku') & Posture limits

وَالرُّكُوعُ: وَهُوَ فَرْضٌ، وَحَدُّهُ أَنْ يَحْنِيَ ظَهْرَهُ حَتَّى تَصِلَ يَدَاهُ إِلَى رُكْبَتَيْهِ • Legal Ruling of Ruku': Bowing (Ruku') during prayer is strictly Fard (obligatory). • The Physical Limit of Bowing: The minimum legal requirement of bowing is bending the back to the extent that both hands can reach the knees. • The Sunnah Posture: The optimal Sunnah method is to keep the back and head completely horizontal and level, spreading the fingers to grasp the knees firmly.

2. Pillar 4: Prostration (Sujud) & Ground Resistance

وَالسُّجُودُ عَلَى مَا يَجِدُ حَجْمَهُ وَتَسْتَقِرُّ عَلَيْهِ جَبْهَتُهُ • Legal Ruling of Sujud: Performing two prostrations (Sujud) in each rak'ah is strictly Fard (obligatory). • Stability Condition (Wujud al-Hajm): Prostration is only valid when performed on a surface that has physical resistance and upon which the forehead can settle firmly without further sinking. • Sujud on Soft Surfaces (Mattresses/Cotton): ◦ Prostrating on cotton, wool, or a soft mattress is valid only if the surface is compressed under the forehead's weight to the point where it cannot sink further, providing firm resistance. ◦ If the cotton is so soft and uncompressed that the forehead keeps sinking without finding a stable resting point, the prostration is invalid.

3. Cleansing the Face: Forehead & Nose Rules

• Forehead and nose: The forehead and firm part of the nose are placed; restricting prostration to the nose is not valid except with a forehead excuse.

4. Placement of Limbs in Sujud

• Toes: Some part of the toes must be placed on the ground; merely placing the top of the foot is insufficient.

5. Prostrating on Another Worshipper's Back

وَيَجُوزُ السُّجُودُ عَلَى ظَهْرِ مُصَلٍّ صَلَّى صَلَاتَهُ • Crowded Congregations (Zahmat al-Jama'ah): During highly crowded congregational prayers (such as Friday or Eid prayers) where space is extremely constrained: • The Permissible Out: It is legally permissible to prostrate on the back of another worshipper standing in the row directly in front, provided that both are performing the exact same prayer. • The Strict Condition: If the person prostrating and the person whose back is being used are performing different prayers (e.g., one is praying Fard and the other is praying Nafal), the prostration is completely invalid.
