The world and what it contains are deprived of blessing, except the remembrance of Allah, what supports it, a person who teaches knowledge, and a person who learns it. إِنَّ مِمَّا يَلْحَقُ الْمُؤْمِنَ مِنْ عَمَلِهِ وَحَسَنَاتِهِ بَعْدَ مَوْتِهِ عِلْماً عَلَّمَهُ وَنَشَرَهُ، وَوَلَداً صَالِحاً تَرَكَهُ، أَوْ مُصْحَفاً وَرَّثَهُ، أَوْ مَسْجِداً بَنَاهُ، أَوْ بَيْتاً لِابْنِ السَّبِيلِ بَنَاهُ، أَوْ نَهْراً أَجْرَاهُ، أَوْ صَدَقَةً أَخْرَجَهَا مِنْ مَالِهِ فِي صِحَّتِهِ وَحَيَاتِهِ، تَلْحَقُهُ مِنْ بَعْدِ مَوْتِهِ (ابن ماجة) Translation: Among the good deeds and rewards that continue to reach a believer after death are knowledge that he taught and spread, a righteous child he left behind, a copy of the Qur'an he passed on, a mosque he built, a home he built for travelers, a stream he caused to flow, or charity he gave from his wealth while healthy and alive. These deeds continue to benefit him after death.
