1. Surah 'Abasa — Part 8

Continue the word-by-word study of Surah 'Abasa with ayahs 36–42.

2. وَصَـٰحِبَتِهِۦ وَبَنِيهِ ﴿٣٦﴾

And his wife and his children,

3. لِكُلِّ ٱمْرِئٍ مِّنْهُمْ يَوْمَئِذٍ شَأْنٌ يُغْنِيهِ ﴿٣٧﴾

For every man, that Day, will be a matter adequate for him.

4. وُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ مُّسْفِرَةٌ ﴿٣٨﴾

[Some] faces, that Day, will be bright -

5. ضَاحِكَةٌ مُّسْتَبْشِرَةٌ ﴿٣٩﴾

Laughing, rejoicing at good news.

6. وَوُجُوهٌ يَوْمَئِذٍ عَلَيْهَا غَبَرَةٌ ﴿٤٠﴾

And [other] faces, that Day, will have upon them dust.

7. تَرْهَقُهَا قَتَرَةٌ ﴿٤١﴾

Blackness will cover them.

8. أُو۟لَـٰٓئِكَ هُمُ ٱلْكَفَرَةُ ٱلْفَجَرَةُ ﴿٤٢﴾

Those are the disbelievers, the wicked ones.
